Accidents have been on the rise because most drivers tend to be careless and try to use their mobile phone while driving.
MMDA has already implemented the no texting while driving law, but still most drivers tend to ignore it. Now there is an answer.
The “Key to safe driving“, its a real key that is computerized and designed to block mobile phone signals for both incoming and outgoing calls including texts.
If someone is attempts to call or text a particular mobile phone protected by the key to safe driving field, the caller or texter will get a text message that the particular user is driving.
It also alerts parents whenever their teens who are driving attempts to use the mobile phone while driving.
One benefit of using this system involves a “safety score” that’s sent to insurance companies in order to reward motorists with good scores and good driving habits.
The system was designed by Xuesong Zhou and Wallace Curry, and is expected to go into production as soon as next year. Its cost is estimated to be $50 or 2,500 PHP, and may involve a monthly service fee
