This may be a bit old, but for those who do not know and for those who have a very tight budget, there is still a way to have a webcam without spending a dime.

All you need is you mobile phone’s camera function and the program called WWIGO, or also known as webcam-wherever-I-go.

This program lets you use the camera function of your mobile phone as a webcam. There are certain advantage and disadvantages this program has.

Its advantages are, its free because you would use your mobile phone.

It uses the bluetooth functionality, so you can also use the webcam at any length as long as the mobile phone is on the bluetooth range. With this functionalty, freedom of movement with your webcam is attained, you can even use your mobile phone as a spy cam, since no wires are used.

One of its disadvantages is that its resolution does not depend on the mobile phone’s. So it wouldnt matter if you have a 5 mega pixel camera like Nokia n95 or a 2 mega pixel camera like a Nokia N70, the quality of the video of the webcam would stay the same. So your best bet is to look for a cheap mobile phone that has the lowest megapixel that you can appreciate. I dont know about iPhones since its bluetooth functionality is exclusive only to other iPhone, iTouch users.
